More Curb Ramp FAQs from Bridjit

Q – What joining method is used to keep the BRIDJIT sections together?

A – BRIDJIT curb ramps come supplied with ½ inch x 7 ½ inch galvanized bolts, pre-inserted into the center sections. These bolts need to be driven into the adjoining section as shown in our instruction manual. Friction between the rubber and bolts keeps the sections tight together; the supplied nuts are an additional fail safe.

Q – How much does each BRIDJIT curb ramp section weigh?

A- Each curb ramp section, or bridge, weighs approximately 45 pounds, or 135 pounds per set of three and 180 pounds per set of four when bolted together.

Q – What keeps BRIDJIT curb ramps in place during use?

A – The curb ramps’ weight provides the stability required to keep the device in place, with little

or no adjustment required during use. Mechanical fixing to the curb should not be required. The sections bolt to each other for support, but not to the ground.

Five Easy Ways to Conserve Gas

Though the fuel crisis and skyrocketing gas prices seem to have passed, they will be back with a vengeance when our economy returns. Regardless, it is still important to reduce our gas consumption to protect our environment and conserve resources for future generations. Here are 5 easy ways for you to conserve gas while saving money.

1. Travel less. This gas-saving method can be implemented in a variety of ways including planning ahead for your needs, consolidating your trips to the store with other errands, as well as walking and bicycling more, carpooling, utilizing public transportation, and working from home occasionally instead of commuting every day.

2. Properly maintain your car. Regular maintenance of your vehicle is one of the most important things you can do to maximize your vehicle’s performance and increase its longevity. This includes regularly checking tire pressure, changing your oil, replacing air filters and getting tune-ups as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

3. Minimize damage to your vehicle. One way to prevent unnecessary damage to your vehicle is to install a set of curb ramps at the end of your roll-over curb driveway entries. Well-made curb ramps minimize damage to your car’s undercarriage, tires, alignment and steering, improving your gas mileage.

4. Drive a fuel efficient car. If you have two vehicles at home, drive the more fuel efficient vehicle whenever possible. And, when you’re in the market for a new car, consider trading in your gas-guzzling SUV or truck for a car that gets better gas mileage, like one of the many hybrids now on the market. Models to consider include the Toyota Prius, Nissan Versa, Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Chrysler Sebring E85.

5. Refill your gas tank slowly. Since modern gas pumps are safety-equipped with vapor returns, that vapor is sucked back out of your car and returned to the underground storage tank where it condenses back into gas. In effect, by pumping faster, you are paying for gas you don’t keep. Instead, pump your gas slowly on the lowest setting to minimize vapor creation and keep most of what you pay for.

By following these five simple tips, you can conserve gas without any significant changes to your driving habits or lifestyle. At the same time, you’ll reduce wear and tear on your vehicle and save time and money. What a bargain!

Bridjit Curb Ramps are environmentally friendly

In 2005, approximately 299 million tires were produced in the United States. During that same year, approximately 255 scrap tires were converted to or processed into another use. Among those end uses are tire derived fuel which provides a cleaner alternative to coal as fuel, civil engineering projects like road and landfill construction, and ground rubber products such as playground surfaces, running tracks and Bridjit Curb Ramps to help your vehicle make an easy transition over troublesome rollover curbs.

By reusing old tires, we can protect our environment from excessive waste. With the use of our curb ramps, you can eliminate the “jar to your car” and maintain your gas mileage with an environmentally-friendly product made in the U.S.A. Now that’s a win-win!

Water flow with Bridjit Curb Ramps

We are often asked how water flows in the curb gutters once the Bridjit Curb Ramps are installed. Here are two FAQs from our website which explain how they work together.

Q – How does BRIDJIT allow for flow of water?
A – BRIDJIT has a full length 2 ½ inch waterway built into the underneath of the product, as well as angled ends which promote excessive water to flow out and around the device, cleaning out debris.

Q – How does Bridjit work if I have a storm sewer inlet/grate located within my driveway?
A – Depending on the exact right-to-left location of the grate and depth of your driveway, Bridjit can still be utilized. You should never place the Bridjit ramp over the top of the grate. Please contact us at for possible solutions and provide a picture of your driveway if possible.

What do I need to install Bridjit Curb Ramps?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. Can I install these driveway curb ramps myself? What do I need to assemble them? That’s simple. You’ll need four items: (1) a hammer, (2) a flat blade screwdriver, (3) a short 2” x 4” board or other 4” high blocking material, and (4) a broom and dustpan.

First, sweep up the debris in the gutter and road near your curb.

Second, lay curb ramp (“bridge”) sections together in the gutter.

Third, flip each section away from the curb so that the bridge is upside down and parallel to the gutter.

Fourth, drive the pre-installed galvanized bolts from the center section to the outer section with a hammer.

Fifth, lifting up each section, insert a 2×4” block under the ramp, pry up on the threaded end of the bolt with a screwdriver, pushing down toward the center line of the ramp, and screw in the provided nuts onto each bolt.

Last, return the curb ramps to their installed position at the base of your rollover curb, in the center of your driveway.
